So many Thankfuls!

It seems we are simply living life to the fullest and I have been lacking in the documentation part of it lately! This summer has been a summer of ups and downs, of good and bad. Preston and I have struggled through certain things and have become closer to each other and our Heavenly Father. We are so blessed and know that a very wise, watchful eye is keeping track of us each and every day. Each night, instead of just recapping my day, I write in my journal at least one thing that I am thankful for that occurred during the day. I have found that even on the worst days I can find something positive.

* I am thankful that I keep our DVD’s in a drawer so that I don’t have to clean this mess up daily… Emmett has been spending a few hours a day with his grandma and aunts since Preston and my work schedules overlap. This little boy LOVES his grandma, grandpa and aunts and uncles. He also loves Maddie (the dog)! His favorite thing to do is pull the DVD’s out of the cupboard… and the games and the cereal boxes and toys…

* I am thankful for my new FABULOUS job! The Lord sure works in mysterious ways… It took me almost a year to pass my boards and then I found a job within a week of the application process. I am working at the Cache Valley Specialty Hospital as an RN in the wound clinic. I LOVE my job. It took me a while to feel comfortable ( and I still have things that I know nothing about!) but it is turning out to be amazing and the perfect job for our situation. Plus I was made for this job… picking, scrapping, cutting…to spare you all the gory details, I take care of people’s wounds. We see mostly diabetics or those with venous ulcers or wounds that won’t heal. The majority of patients of wounds on their feet. I. Hate. Feet. I am getting better. When you like your patient it makes it a lot easier to deal with feet and feet smell. So get a wound, come to Logan and I will clean your feet and bandage them up all nice. Seriously though, I love what I do. Plus, I get my picture on a bus. When I see myself I will snap a picture and post it for you to see!

* I am thankful for the awesome husband that I have! Since he was gone over our anniversary we celebrated the first week in August with a trip to Park City, ALONE. I love sleeping in. We spent 3 days enjoying main street, the outlets and the beautiful mountains. It was surprisingly rainy and cooler but we LOVED our time together. We stayed at a dingier hotel (that Preston booked!) but spent the weekend laughing about it and looking forward to staying in a nice place someday!

* I am thankful for my happy, healthy little boy. Emmett is growing up so fast… He will be one in a month! He is learning so much and I think we love him more every day. He stands up by himself all the time and has taken 5 steps! He wants to walk so bad! He is a fast, busy little guy who gets into EVERYTHING! He loves to eat, go on walks and watch Baby Einstein. He claps, waves and says “all done” and “woof, woof” (sort of). He LOVES his daddy. Since I have been working more Preston has been able to be home with Emmett. I love the relationship that has developed. He says “da da” and now “daden” (Don’t know where this one came from) all the time! Preston is so good with Emmett and claims he is ready for the next one… hmm, maybe in a while honey.

* I am thankful for these awesome people. Love them. This picture makes me laugh and brings me all kinds of happy. We spent the morning at a lake… hmm, don’t know the name. It had a giganto rope swing that the boys loved. And then went to Bear Lake for the afternoon and Pickleville Playhouse that night. It was a fun filled day and really quite rare that we were all able to get off work and just be together. Thanks daden.

* I am thankful for a wonderful, supportive, hard-working husband. Preston works so hard in school and at work to ensure that our family is provided for now and in the future. Preston received his Bachelors degree in May and just started graduate school this week. He will be at USU for two years attending school and being in the ROTC program. He is working at Westhost, a web hosting company, and honestly I think he hates it. I have never heard him complain but I know he dreads going to work. It is an excellent job to put on a resume so he keeps at it. He will graduate with his Master’s in MIS in 2014 and then the fun begins… He enjoyed his training this summer at LTC in Fort Knox. A bit of a love, hate relationship from what I understand. Preston just keep amazing me at the things he can accomplish! We survived at home while he was gone with the help of family, friends and the Holy Ghost. I know I was being watched over each and every day because Preston was exactly where he needed to be… I could write an entire post just about that month he was gone.

* I am thankful for the little things. The times we spend together as a family whether it be eating dinner on our slab of concrete, wrestling, teaching Emmett how to walk, going to the pool or the park, or simply laughing together at 630 AM because someone woke up SUPER early! I am trying to enjoy each and every moment with Emmett. He is growing and changing everyday and I don’t want to miss one thing!

* I am so thankful for the hard times. It is the only way to truly appreciate when things are good. And I am working on finding those good things even when things aren’t going exactly as planned. We are happy though! And loving every minute of life!
